Sikuli is an open-source automation testing tool that uses image recognition technology to automate graphical user interface (GUI) interactions. It allows users to automate tasks by using screenshots of the GUI elements rather than depend on specific identifiers or code.

Sikuli is a “Graphical User Interface (GUI)” Automation Testing Tool.

Sikuli Automates anything You see on the Screen using the “Image recognition method” to identify the “GUI Elements/Components”.

Sikuli can be used to Automate “Desktop Applications, Window, Adobe/Audio/Video/players, Flash, Flex objects, Games Website objects, Google Maps,  Windows Applications, Web Application and more..”

Sikuli can be easily integrated with Selenium and all other automation Tools.

It is a simple API, it makes coding easier. It provides a very friendly Sikuli script  API jar.

We are testing an application under development and you don’t know the Locatores(id,name, cssSelector and xpath) of the elements, then you can go with Sikuli. It will check the appearance of the Image and if image match is found, it will be intact with the Image accordingly.

Main key features of Sikuli include:

1) Image Recognition: Sikuli enables users to automate interactions by capturing and matching images of elements on the screen. It uses these images as references to perform actions such as clicking, typing, dragging, and dropping.

2) Cross-Platform: Sikuli is cross-platform and can be used on Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.

3) Scripting Language: It provides scripting capabilities using Sikuli Script, which is based on Jython (Python integrated with Java), allowing users to write automation scripts using Python syntax.

4) Accessibility: Sikuli can automate interactions with not only desktop applications but also web applications, flash-based objects, and games, making it versatile for various automation tasks.

5) Ease of Use: Its visual approach makes it relatively user-friendly for those without extensive programming knowledge, as it allows users to create automation scripts by simply capturing and using images of GUI components.

Sikuli has been widely used for GUI automation, testing, and repetitive task automation across various industries due to its flexibility and ability to interact with graphical elements based on visual recognition.
